Yellow Pages Capture the Cover competition showcases local photographers.

The stats are in! We all love taking photos, and our smart phones, tablets and apps like Instragram make it so easy to snap and share.

So what would you say if I told you submitting a photograph of your local area could win you a prize? That’s right! A prize! (And actually, it’s $36,000 in prizes!)

This year, Yellow Pages is going local for its phone books and wants you (yes, you!) to submit your pics, which could have the honour of gracing the front cover of your local Yellow Pages book.

The Capture the Cover competition wants you to submit your original photos that showcase your local community, with this year’s theme being Through the Eyes of a Local. There are some fab prizes up for grabs, including cash, iPads and high spec DSLR cameras.

Each photo that is entered will be judged by a local photographer, with best in the running to be featured on the front cover of their local Yellow Pages. You have until 24 August to get your entries in.

All you need to do is upload your entry to the Capture the Cover website*, and feel free to share your photos as well. You can do this via Twitter (you can also use #capturethecover), Pinterest and Facebook.

Go ahead! What are you waiting for? It’s a fabulous competition with lots of great prizes.

* Just check the terms and conditions of entry on the website to make sure your photos comply with the entry conditions. For example, for privacy reason, photographs cannot identify people, and there are minimum specs around the photos themselves.

Disclaimer: I was approached by Yellow Pages’ PR Company to help with publicity via this blog and my other social media platforms. While I received a Panasonic mobile camera as an incentive, I think this is a fabulous competition and would have promoted it anyway.

  1. Whos your contact at yellow?
Maybe you could ask them to elaborate on entering their competition, all mentions of it link to a one page advertisement, which refers , but doesnt link to the ‘ full site ‘ , go there and follow the link to competition, end up back on the ad page !

    1. My bad, kinda, they dont specify none of the links work on mobiles, just that entry must be desk top. I wanted to read the terms etc but had to go desktop to do even that.
Sorry, delete above comment if need be.
